Who wouldn't be an office boy ? An indignant parent down in Dnnedin haa been ransacking the papers for something alluring in the ' wanted ' columns to Bnit a bod of his. He eeema to have g^uite a number of them, and they all want Bomethine 'clean and genteel.' The old man has gjven up the hunt in disgust, and recounts the result of his search in one of the local papers as follows :— A -Dunedin shipping office advertised for a 'respectable, intelligent office boy.' For this the pay was 53 a week, and the boy was expected to do the work of a junior clerk. A large firm of land brokers advertised for a 'gentlemanly, well-edu-cated youth for office work.' Several of the applicants were put to more or lobb severe educational tests. Another instance : 'A well-educated youth, with a good knowledge of figures, for an accountant's office,' was advertised for. A large insurance office advertised a few weeks ago for ' a well-educated youth of good address; one who has passed the junior Civil Service examination preferred.'
