PAEROA

At the anniversary ball in connection with the Loyal Jubilee Lodge of Oddfellows, the hall was very nicely decorated with nikaus and Chinese lanterns, for which the committee deserve great credit. The floor was in good order ; the music, which was provided by Eussell's band, was all that could be wished. The ball was opened with the Grand March, in which about 50 couples joined. Amongst the ladiea I noticed :— Mis Buckley, old gold satin ; Mrs Fairlie, creme ; Mesdames Nelson, Andrews, Jenkins, Henly, black; Miss Hamilton, who was undoubtedly belle, looked very nice in a creme dress relieved with green plush, pearls and rosebuds ; Miss Kendrey, creme figured cashmere ; Miss Booth, blue ; Misses Henely (3), white ; Miss Ashley (Thames) looked very nice in green ; Miss Mandeno; salmon pink; Misses Love (2), creme ; Miss Barnaby, blue and black ; Miss West, pink and black; Miss Dodd, creme; Miss Vfhitner and Miss Laurie, black. There were many other ladies present who looked very nice whose names I could not obtain. The supper, which was provided by Mr RobertßOn, was nicely got up and done justice to by all who were there. Mr Sheen aB secretary, and Mr Innes as M C fulfilled their duties satisfactorily. .T S and M B were doing justice to the gallery. No wonder you didn't

want it opened for onlookers, T...Was J I tired of blowing the whistle that he had to get Miss H to blow it for him, or was he thinking of Miss B too much ? When are you going to give up flirting, Jimmy ?. .Why was C B not at the ball? Wouldn't Miss McM g0?...P C looked very downcast com'ng from the train the other morning. Was he fretting after V H?
