MORRINSVILLE.
The young ladies of Morrinsville were reworded on Friday with fine weather for their plain and fancy dress ball, which was without doubt one of the most enjoyable ever held in this district. The hall was most tastefully decorated, which gave it a cool and refreshing appearance. The Grand March, which was led off by Mr W.Adams and Miss B Turnbull, was much appreciated by those present, there being some twenty couplea on the floor and as many onlookers. There were some very striking costumes, among whom I noticed : Miss Turnbull as Starlight ; Miss Bessie Turnbull, Little Red Biding Hood; Miss Lizzie Scholium, Grandpa's Darling; Miss Annie Delaney, French Shepherdess ; Miss Lizzie Irving, Kopap ; Mrs Webb black figured dress, satin trimmings ; Mrs Wilson, white evening dress, blue chiffon ; Mrs Grizsby, black dress ; Miss Layne, blue bodice, black skirt, pale blue sash ; Mrs Fry, black walking costume ; Mrs Scholium, black skirt, blue bodice ; Miss Roberts, walking costume ; Miss G Roberts, walking costume ; Miss Glye, black ; Mrs Hotson, maroon bodice, black skirt; Miss M Keogh, black skirt, white bodice; Miss M Bichardson, grey relieved with pink ; Mrs Keogh, black; Miss Butcher, black evening dress ; Miss M Clifford, white silk ; Miss A Roberts, walking costume ; Mrs .Lockwood, heliotrope; Mrs Pickett.blue velveteen ; Miss Buge, pink evening dress ; Mias Kilgour, blue satin body, figured skirt ; Misses C and L Hotson, walking costumes. Among the gentlemen I noticed Mr J Turnbull, senr., tirandpa ; Mr F Delaney, Australian Stockman; Mr W Adams, Nigger; Mr J "Carnachan, Porter ; Mr M Kelly, Day and Night; Mr A Forrest, Footballer; Mr D Barry, 8ailor ; Mr G Marsh, Schoolboy. Others in evening dress, etc., were Mesers J Bell, W Scholium, J Buckley. A Bedford, W Neels, C Lushby, F Cole, J Hill, J Bruce, J Fagan, J Turnbull, J Clifford, F T Irwin, J Clarke, W Matthews. W McLean, D Fry, A Wilson, A Pickett, A Haye, N Stafford, F Hughes, D Hickey, H Rowe, S Teague, and others too numerous to mention. Good music was supplied by Mr C Grizsby. The duties of M C were carried out by Mr F Delaney. Several extras throughout the evening were played by Mr W Adams (violin), and were greatly appreciated. At midnight refreshments were handed round, after which dancing again commenced and was kept up with lively spirit till the wee hours of morn.
