WAITEMATA.
Jackman or Monk?
Heee we have Mr Jtiichaid Monk as the National Association candidate contesting the seat with a capable and broad-minded Liberal in the person of Mr Jackman* The electorate ought by this time' to be pretty well sick of Mr Monk, hi 9 election campaigns and his dismal politica, "We have been surfeited with Monk, both in connection with former Waitemata elections and at the contest for Auckland City at the bye-election, when he was so emphatically defeated. And even if Mr Monk were elected, it is difficult to see what service he and his gloomy forebodings of future disaster would be to the Colony.
The electorate is a large one, with numerous wants demanding daily attention in Parliament, and the constituency requires the services of an up-to-date, hustling man such as Mr Jackman, the Liberal candidate. Mr Jackman has mot the electors in the several centres, and has proved himself to be a capable speaker, moderate and Liberal in his opinions, and having a good grasp of the politics of the Colony. As a Member, he would be an immense improvement upon Mr Monk. We are therefore quite prepared to hear on Friday that Mr Jackman is the cnosen of "Waitemata.
