The land is known to contain reefs carrying good gold, loose gold having been found on many parts of the surface. • The Promoters of the above Special Claim having obtained the right to mine and acquire the Freehold, propose to form the same into a Company under the No-Liability section of the Mining Companies Act, 1894, on the following terms : — Capital* 8000 in 80,000 Shares of 2a each 38,500 Shares to go to the present proprietors 1,500 paid-up Shares to the estate of J. The following reports are from experienced experts who know the ground, and it may be further said that this is where there was a rush some years ago, when the well-known Hunt, of Shotover fame, was prospecting there. Prospectus, reports, etc., can be inspected at the offices of Messrs Woodhouse and Black, Sharebrokerß, 87, Queen-street (Cook's Buildings). Auckland, July 15, 1896. To Messrs woodhotjse and Black • Gentlemen, — „ T„, I beg to submit my report on Mr J. Sheehan's property at Rotokuhu, I have prospected all round that property, and can state there is a splendid show on the surface of both loose gold and stone showing colours of gold. There is a great depth of surface, and that makes it difficult to find the reefs that have shed the golden stone, although it is on a hill. Where the rich prospects are obtained it is very flat, and will require a long tunnel to open up the reefs. lam sure that a number of the reefs which are cut in the Karangahake mines come through this property. My son packed five tons of quartz for Mr. W. Hunt, which gave a return of one and a-half (1J) ounces i f gold to the ion at the Karangahake Battery, from a reel not many chains from your boundary, in fa« r. if there was plenty of water for sluicing, th. i c are lots of places that could be made iopa). I have sluiced on the ground myself, so 1 speak from experience. There is no pla<<e in the Ohinemuri district that has the same show of loose gold and stone on the surface, which proves there are rich reefs in your property Therefore, I can recommend this as a bona-fide mining venture. 1 have the honour to be, Your obedient servant, (Signed) .C. A. CORNES, Certificated Mine Manager. Auckland, 7uly 9th, 1696. Messks Woodhoosb and Black, Dear Sirs— At your request I beg to inform you what I know of the prospects of the Rotokuhu Freehold. In the first place it was known to be in the possession of Mr Sheehan, and therefore ncne of the prospectors interfered with Ms land, or I am certain there would have been payable gold found on it long ago. This Ido know, that there is a lot of loose quartz scattered over the surface of the land, that it is rough and steep, and adapted for tunnelling, find therefore easily prospected and worked, and on each side of it there is loose gold in the creeks ; also that it is the same range or spur that the Kirangahake reefs are passing through, and, I believe, a property well worth developing. Irerr am, Your respectfully, (Signed) ROBERT KELLY. EXTRACT FROM MR L. McNAMARA'S LETTER HE MR JOHX SHEEHAKPS PROPERTY, 'ROTOKUHU/ There are 50 acres of freehold property Dec and peg with the Golden Crown and Germanic. There is loose gold all over the ground, and I myself know of two reefs in the property. I believe there would be no trouble in floatine it on the Auckland market. (Signed) LAURENCE McNAMAKA.
