TUAKAU.

On Monday evening last a party of young people assembled at the residence of Mrs Storey, their object being to give that lady a surprise party prior to her leaving the district. A most enjoyable time was spent, dancing, cards, etc., being the order of the evening. About 3 a.m. the party broke up, all hands joining in singing ' Auld Lang Syne.. The O M noticed the smith doing the heavy with Miss D. Don't play the double, Me ; remember the Buckland young lady. .L D had 'em all on, in fact looked as if he had stepped out of the proverbial band-bos:.. . Miss V says dancing has no charms for her. A quiet game of cardswithß Cis much nicer.. J E had a blissful time with C T. Nyum nyum...W D had a smile for everyone...That neat little particle, what's the next article, corner store young man is 'getting a practical hand at dancing. .S W and his chum had a jolly evening, partly owing to their having found a green hill far away in the shape of a pocket pistol.

. .Miss W was conspicuous by her absence. Fair winds don't blow in that direction. .The Misses T have caused quite a flutter among the opposite sex, but W H and J B are the favourites np to date. ..Who was the young lady that asked B G to see her home from the late social? Don't speak so loud next time. Miss P. Remember walls have ears. .Too bad of J B to say he was only amusing himself with JC. Be careful, J, the widow has her eye on you...S W came out of his shell at the surprise party, but the frantic way in which he used his limbs when dancing rather startled the fair sex.
