Reports. To the Pbopbietobs of the Fbee Lanoe Extended S.C. Gentlkiien, — I have the honour to report upon your property as follows :— The Free Lance Extended S.C is situated at Waitekauri, and is hounded Westerly by the Free Lance, and Northerly by the Dorothy S.C, and in close proximity to the Gothic, Capstan, and Waitekauri Mooarch Special Claims To the South is situated the Mint and Craig's Reward Special Claims, and the claim is consequently well within the auriferous belt which traverses the Waitekauri district, and iv which belt is located thefamous Waitekauri Gold Mining Company's Mine now being opened up on an extensive scale, their main tunnel being not far distant from your Northwest boundary. Your claim, no work having as yet been done upon it, is consequently virgin ground; but several lodes have already been discovered in adjaceut properties, some of which should strike through jour property, where, with a reasonable amount of prospecting, they should be cut. The reefs at present known, which should traverse the Free Lance Extended, are the Waitekauri Monarch reef and the Craig's Keward reef, which is an immense ore body some thirty feet in width ; other lodes will no doubt be discovered when your property is worked. The Free Lance Extended is admirably situated for mining operations, the contour of the country affording extensive backs, thus enabling the mine to be worked fora longtime on the cheapest scale. On the property there is an abundant supply of timber suitable for mining purposes, and the main road, which runs from the Waitekauri township to the Golden Cross section of the Waitekauri Company's, is but a short distance from your boundary. In clo*iug this report I beg to state that when opened up there is no reason why your property should not be as valuable as any surrounding it. I forward with this report a rough sketch showing the position of the Free Lance Extended. I have the honour to be, gentlemen, Your obedient servant, JOHN FEATON. Auckland, August 7th, 1896.

Waihi, August 3rd, 1896. TO THE I't-OrBIETOBS OF THE FBEE LANCE Extended S.C. at Waitekaubi. Gentle hen,— l have surveyed this Special Claim and also the one adjoining called the Dorothy, and from my own persoual knowledge of the claim and its surroundings deem it a property well worthy to be developed. Mostly all the gold-bearing reefs in* the Waitekauri, as in the Waihi District, are bearing a little East of North, and by an inspection of any litho. of the Goldfields you will readily perceive that the Free Lance Extended S.C. lies iv a good position with regard to some of these reefs. You have excellent ' backs ' on the property, as well a • a stream of water and timber for mining purposes. I am, gentlemen, yours truly, D. STUBBING, Mining Surveyor.
