The opening night of the Dorothy Socials is to take place on Friday night, June 19th, in St. George's Hall. The arrangements are in the hands of a new committee, with the exception of Mr R. Noonan, who still acts as Hon. Sec. The Dorothy season bids fair to prove a most successful one, judging by the large number of acceptances.
A practical demonstration of the new American type of sociable bicycie was given at Whitehall Court, London, recently before some press representatives and members of Parliament. Tim machine permits two persons to ride side by Bide instead of tandem fashion, and the adjusting gear ia so arranged that a heavy manand a small boy can ride as easily togethu as two persons of equal weight.
The Hastings Amateur Operatic Society are about to stage ' lolanthe.' Mr A. A. George is conductor
