KENT R(UD (TARANAKI)

A concert and dance was held in Petrie's Hall on Thursday night, in aid of the Kent Road Athletic Club, and was a decided success, a great number of people being present. The songs which were sung fairly brought down the house. Song, Mr D. Arrowsmith ; song, Miss Cotril ; song, Mr A. Paynter ; song, Mr G. Arrowsrnith; song, Mr Perry; duet, Misses Herbert; song, Mr G. Herbert; song, Mr J. Maunton (which was uproariously encored and responded to); recitation, Mr Ingleneld ; duet, Mr D. Arrowsmith and Miss B. Paynter ; song, Mr Bleasdel. The music for the concert was snpplied by Mrs H. Matthews and Mr G. Marsh (piano), and Mr H. Herbert (violin). The dresses of the ladies which were worn at the dance were very becoming and pretty:— Miss Cotril, pink bodice and black skirt; Miss Reeve, brown ; Miss Batten, white ; Miss F. Batten, white bodice and coloured skirt; Misses Gabb, one in white with black sash, the other in black relieved with blue; MrsNolands, deep creine relieved with red; Miss Hallinan, creme with black lace and black velvet; Miss Baker, black; Mrs Matthews, white jacket aud grey skirt; Misses Herbert, one in dark blue relieved with white, the other brown skirt, ereme jacket, brown waistcoat; Mrs C. Paynter, dark grey ; Miss B. Paynter, black skirt, light bluejacket, and blue sash ; Miss Andrews, black skirt and white jacket. The duties of M C were performed by Mr J. Henderson in a very creditable manner. The O M heard that Mr Petrie lost several spoons during the evening, but if he had come in to the hall he would have seen several of them in the corners. .Wasn't J B doing it nicely with C G?.. Didn't A H and J seem to enjoy their waltzing. .BP and GAS seem to be tired of spooning. .Why didn't J H bring D N to the dance. .Why didn't M L wait for the dance. Was it because W B was not there.
