Butchers' Annual Picnic
On Wednesday, (sth Feb.. the butchers hold their annual picnic at 3lotutapu. i Thanks to the energetic way in which | Mr W. Lewis, (the secretary) and all ; concerned have worked the picnic up ; there is no question that given fair | weather, it will be a huge success. ! A fishing competition (with prizes for ' the largest and the smallest fish caught) ; and the ' .Ladies' Cake "Walk ' are amongst ' the attractions promised. The tickets are ! only Is (id (children fid), and as the butchers know how to do this sort of thing, you may depend on a good time if you patronise their picnic.
i ! Two spielers returning from the j Auckland races were met at Wellington ' wharf by their chums. ' Well, Ikey, what i luck ?' enquired a shore man, as the steamer came alongside. 'Luck, be d ,' said the other, the racing gentlemen in Auckland beat us at our own game.' Volunteers should note District Orders in this issue.
