OTAHUHU.
L., in looking for sunbeams, has caught a 'ray.' A. good one, too, although a little ' sandy.' .. Otahuhu F.C. No. 11l wants to know why their big brothers did not invite them to the dinner prepared for the Parnell Club?.. lt was wet the other Saturday, and the brave team matched to play the local footballers stayed at the Harp of Eria. It is now proposed by the Otahuhu Club to buy ulsters and umbrellas for tlae boys of Parnell... Our footballers gave a grand social last Friday, which was a great success. Mr Rowe ably officiated as M.C. The music was supplied by Messrs Armstrong (piano) and Hulse (violin), and was all that could be desired. The floor was in excellent condition. There were plenty of town johnnies out for the fun, some of the clean-faced order of guys, and others with waxed moustaches. It was real fun watching the girls how they ' pulled the legs 'of the johnnies. St. Hippo went through a set of quadrilles at a ' six furlong pace,' and when he pulled up he still seemed fit for a Melbourne Cup. Quite ' wright,' G., there's nothing like enjoying life when you can. Mr Bowe, in wishing the team success, said he hoped they would be as successful in their matches that night as they would be in their football matches of the season. He then presented Mr J. S. Fearnley, the winner of the annual football half-mile race with a silver medal. James stepped on to the end of the stage and was just going to respond when the boys struck up with their football song, ' On the Ball.' Poor James, how he blu3hed and how the girls tittered. Overheard at the social. First town Johnnie to second town Johnnie, who is dancing with No. l's best country girl (for the night only) : ' Look here, you are at this game all night.' Second town Johnnie : ' Oh, no ; I only " hold her " (what a pun !) for one dance.'. .When is J.T. going to tie the fatal knot with Miss G. over the Tamaki ? You are very long-winded, J.
