OBSERVER AIWIJAI, Christmas Prize Distribution. THE 1893 DRAWING. SPLENDID PRIZES GRATIS, Now is the Time to Subscribe ! ! ! The proprietors of the N.Z. Observer and Free Lance have very mnch pleasure in announcing their second Annual Christmas Distribution of Gifts to their subscribers. The success of their 1892 distribution was very great. It was drawn under the supervision of the Mayor of Auckland, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, two members of the Hnuße of Representatives, and two members of the Auckland City Council. Nearly one huncred prizes, aggregating upwards of .£l5O in value, were given away,, and the recipients were nnanimous in their expressions of satisfaction with the prizes which they were successful in winning . In view of the great success of the last distribution, it is our intention this year to offer a much larger number of prizes, and moreover, prizes of much greater value. These will consist principally of valuable and tasteful paintings in oils and water colours, but they will be by no means confined to these. There will be numerous other prizes in articles of use and ornament, as well as gifts of Christmas cheer and cheques for various sums. Some of the principal prizes are now on view at our office, in Queen-street, while others may be seen in the shop- windows of certain tradesmen. They will all bear the closest inspection. Way, more, they will excite the covetousness of those who see them. This is not an art union of the ordinary kind for the purpose of profit. We. sell no tickets. It is an absolutely free distribution of prizes to our subscribers, the main object in view being to increase the popularity and already wonderfully large circulation of the Observer. You ask hqw we manage to do it ? Well that is our concern. We devote a portion of our profits to this object, and return them in this way to our readers as a bonus. Remember thao the tickets for this distribution are given away gratis. Every i^sue of the Observer from now until the time of the drawing will contain a coupon. Cue theEe coupons out and preserve them, and when you have become possessed of eii*ht send them with a stamped and addressed envelope (for reply) and we will return you in exchange for each eight coupons you send us one ticket in the drawing. All these coupons are alike, so that two or more may be taken from papers of the same date and used to make up one set. Head these conditions carefully and make no mistake. We give one ticket in the drawing in exchange for eight coupons, thcugh yon are not limited to one ticket. Send in all the coupons you can get !
