ARARIMU SOUTH.
Monday 3rd April was a scene of a comparatively select ball whioh eventuated in the Ararimu Public Ball, dancing commenced at 8.30 p.m. The ball was a pronounced success, being beyond a doubt the best ball yet held in the aforesaid building. The O.M. was not particularly eager to gain a view of the sylphs and the dudes, but a certain scene was unavoidable, A.S. and M.W. of Maketu in tbe corner. They say J.McN. is a grand singer but I must learn Scotch before I pass my opinion. Does S.N., of Paparata, think she will oapture J.R.W. now that she has lost J.M. The most noticeable dresses worn by the ladies were as follows: Miss McKee, white ; Miss I. Wallace, white and pale blue; Miss McCabe, white and .pink; Miss Calaghan, white dress and electric blue sash ; Mias McClean, white and pink ; Miss W. Toomey, pink; Mies Phelean, blaok and white ; Miss McKarty, terra cotta; Miss M. Nobbs, white; Miss A. McCabe. white and cardinal; Miss Shanaghan, white and ruby. It was very difficult to select a belle, but I think Miss Calaghan had tbe preference ; she no doubt looked charming.
