TAUPAKI.
The sleepy monotony of this humdrum place was broken by a cricket match, concert and dance, all on the one day. ihe Taupakl Cricket Club actually mustered courage enough to challenge an Auckland team — the Ramblers. Needless to say, the latter won by 23 runs. The visitors were hospitably entertained by the local team and waited on by the ladies, to whom they gave three hearty cheers. The Eamblers could not be prevailed upon to remain for the dance. Miss C.J. looked charming at the concert in ereme and gold, and her songs wece greeted with clamorous applause.... Miss J.Y., dressed in pink and black, fairly carried the audience away by her songs. A.J., an Auckland lady, was also highly successful. Two young ladies favoured the hearers with recitations, and Miss H. contributed two sweet little songs. The gentleman who sang • Kissing ' seems to be quite a favourite among the fair sex. Look out, H.S., or you will have another rival. The farce was a success, too. After the concert, the youth of the district danced and sang till the wee small hours.
