♦_ ! It ib doubtless fresh in the memory of most people in Auokland that on the night of the 13th December, 1886, St. Benedict's Church was destroyed by fire. An eyewitness related to the writer the episode which the lines below but feebly delineate. The delay in publication is owing to the lobs of the manuscript, which has now mysteriously turned up The whole narrative is not only founded on fact, but is fact itself.
