Jack Cosson had his arm broken while engaged in a fight in Melbourne. Jeff. Maynard will don the barber's pole (beg pardon) City jersey this season. Mr Jagger intends to haul the Constance up on Bailey's slip for the winter. The Constance had the best of the beat down to Drunken Bay last Saturday. Cheeseman, of Whangarei. is being trained by S. Gocdman for the sports on Saturday. Several of the yachts intended to go outside last Saturday, but the bad weather prevented them. Jim Mathie and crew of the Awarpa weat over to Home Bay and lent a hand to float the Malua off. The crew uf the Malua tried to beat off a lee shore uader jib and stay-sail but it did not come off. Hence the trouble. Gordon 11. thought they had a soft thing on last week, when Auckland only made 32. Gordon responded with 28. The Rita, Constance, Awaroa, May, Wanderer, Awatea, Eosie, besides several smaller yachts, were in Drunken Bay last Saturday night. G. B. Beere won the victor ludorum in the test race on Tuesday night, leading from start to finish. He was trained by S. Goodman. 'Brab,' the champion fielder of Auckland, says he will not play for Auckland 11. as long as Smith is Captain. Who. says it is a good job? Why was A. Howard allowed to play for Auckland. ll. against Gordon last Saturday? Is the Cricket Association tired of Gordon winning the Cup. W. Kenderdine and Kelly for Gordorj, and A. Howard and A. Seocombe for Auckland accomplished splendid bowling performances last Saturday. The yacht Malua, that went ashore at Home Bay last Friday, was patched up and towed to Mr Bailey's slip at 2 o'clock on Sunday morning by the Beatrice. Joe Goddard, the famous Australian pugilist passed through Auckland last Saturday en routs for Yankee Land, where he is going to give McAuliffe ' the Mission boy ' twice round the kitchen ' for a big stake. The sculling race for the Championship of the World between Tom Sullivan, of Auckland and J. Stanbury will take plase on Monday next on the Parramatta Eiver. I sincerely hope that ' our Tom ' will mn. C. Hesketh and J. Lambert must be pleased with themselves after getting the Rugby Union to give Suburbs such a big territory to select from. Suburbs will be nearer than second for the Cup this season. The Wanderers C.C. all enjoyed their trip to Warkworth and Mahurangi. They played three matches, winning 2 and losing 1. J. R. Lundon performed the best with the bat and P. J. Ohlson with the ball. Jimmy Allen, the team's 1 masher ' acquitted himself best with the maidens.
