Large Yacht Handicap.
More than ordinary interest is attached ■to this race on account of the Maritana's performance in Wellington. It had been hoped that some Southern competitors would have reached here in time for this event, but the prize money was not sufficient inducement. I think next year the Begatta Committee should make the big yacht race a speciality, and try to induca an Australian yacht to try conclusions with some of our ' cracks.' The only •likely Btarters I know of are the Ngaira, Arawa, and Matangi, and I shall place them as follows : — Arawa 1 Matangi 2 Ngaira . . . . . . . . 3
