The Hospital Scandal
All is cut-and-dried for the Hospital Inquiry, which is to open on Monday next. On the Government side, the whitewash pot and lye brush are ready for use, and they will be most liberally employed. On the other side, the determination is to have nothing to do with the inquiry. The accusing witnesses will simply stand from under, while the lye and white wash are being slung around, lest they should get besmirched. Miss Arnaboldi and others will decline to give evidence, on the ground that they have no confidence in the Com mission. I guess Drs. Giles and Hassell will not mind this, but will carry out their instructions to the letter. Then look out for a noise in Parliament when W. L. Bees brings up the matter there. If Nurse Goulstone gives evidence before the Commissioners, she will cause a sensation by disclosing the conditions on which probationers are allowed to remain in the Hospital.
