Rita.
Archly winsome, graceful Eita, In thy sportive way, Fairer than the rose, and eweeter Than the fragrant May ; In this maze of youth and beauty That surrounds me here, I now see, with secret glee, Thy fair form appearHere, where beauteous blonde is vying' With the bright brunette ; While the golden moments flying Teem with bliss. And yet, Though such radiant smiles are stealing O'er thy lovely face, Painful thoughts thou art concealing With coquettish gracei For thy heart at times is turning To its home elsewhere^ And thou c±nst not dim its yearning, E'en with ball-room glare. Little thinks the youth, careering With thee in the dance, 'Tis & false delight appearing In thy witching glance ! Yet in robe so choicely tasteful, Of such dainty hue, Thou art fairy-like and graceful To the admirer's view, As thy feet, in rhythmic measure, Blithely, fleetly move, 'Midst a social thronar, where Pleasure Well might waken Love ! — A. W. HtTBRT, Beresford-street, Dec. 22, 1890.
