A Giddy Waiter.
It is a matter of public talk that a young married waiter, the possessor of a pair of bewitching black eyes and a cunning little black moustache, working in one of our leading restaurants, has a great weakness for the fair sex. A short time back the wife of his bosom made inquiries as to why she had missed his company of late in the evenings, and why he was so often absent on Sunday mornings, to which he replied — ' Oh, nowhere in particular, only taking a stroll.' But such \vaa not the case, his reason for absenting himself from his domioile being summed up in the fact that he had become enamoured of a waitress then employed in the Game hash house. Tbeir Boheme ran thus : —She would go to Sydney, and he would follow as soon as possible, and they would then change names and enter into the happy bonda of matrimony. The night before the parting —of course they intended to meet on that beautiful shore again shortly— she pave a party, and during f."h« evening sang • When Other Lips and Other Hearts,' which of course he thoroughly understood. A short time back just as he had got enough of the necessary coin together to cross the briny and throw himself into the arms of his darling, he was utterly dumbfounded on hearing that she had been married. This news has been confirmed, and the sorest point upon which he can be touched is to whistle in his presence a few bars of that beautiful song ' When Other Lips.'
