Some Questions to Candidates.
There are a number of questions that might have been, or ought to have been, asked of different candidates for election in Auckland district, but which somehow were never put. As the Observer is the recognised organ of fearless, etc, etc., we giva plaoe to a few of these questions : — Mr Lennox : How do you propose to save .£85,000 off the defence vote, when the total is only .£160,000 odd, of which over ,£92,000 are required for the police force ? Would Sir Maurioe, if elected, support the right of the Chinese to have schools at the public expense ? Mr Blank : Will you introduce a Bill to prevent newlymarried ladies from committing suioide under suspicious circumstances ? Mr Bombast : Will you pass a law compelling young men. who ruin girls, to marry them ? Would Sir Arthur (?), if he had estates in Ireland, build farm honses, and let Mb tenants live in them rent free? Would Dr Wallis kindly lend some money upon the great wooden house in Wellington ? It would be snoh fun to watch him, a3 mortgagee, stick to 'anither kirk, for the Loard's sake !' Would Sir Maurice kindly tell the public if it is true that he has got a bonus of .£20,000 for the Globo Ironworks ? If so, how did he get it, and why should the people give their taxes to bolster up a few moneylenders ? Would Mr Billy Hodere kindly state how he felt when aaked to ' get ' from the Liberal meeting ?
