THAMES.

The annual ball held ia connection with the Wanderers' F. 0., took place in the xVcademy of Alusio on Tuesday iaat

and was a brilliantly successful affair. Ihe hall was gaily decorated with flags, and presented quite a cheerful aspect. About 65 couples were present, and at eight o'clock a lengthy programme of dances was commenced, the music being supplied by Messrs Martin Bros., and was all that could be expected. Mr W. O'Brien acted as M.C. and did everything in his power to make an enjoyable evening. A splendid supper, catered by Mr W. Scott, gave every satisfaction. I must congratulate the committee on the manner in which the ball was carried out, who consist of Messrs MoLachlan, H. Brownlee, J. O'Brien, W. Moore, J. McGregor, J. Dare, and secretary, W. O'Brien. The following dresses were worn by ladies : — Miss J. Davies, pretty costume, trimmed with pink lace and rosebuds, looked very pretty ; Miss Adlam, white embroidered dress, with blue and white ribbons from the shoulder; Mias K. Brown, grey, with grey and white ribbons ; Miss A Brown, white, with pink and white ribbons from the shoulder, looked very charming; Misses Morgan looked very nice in pretty fawn dresses, with pink and white ribbons ; Mies M. Fathers looked well in white, with grey plad sash ; Misses Jennings, fawn dreeaes, looked exceedingly pretty ; Mis C. Short, fawn, trimmed with black ribbons and velvet ; Misses Syms, O'Brien, Dakin, McLey, and Boyle, white dresses, maroon sashes ; Mrs J. McGregor, very pretty crushed strawberry dress ; Miss M. Taylor, terra-cotta, with black braid trin?mings ; Miss Neville looked very pretty in black and cardinal ; Misses Quinn, Moran, Saunders, Edwards, and M. Jennings looked very becoming in white. The prettiest dresses were worn by the Misses McCurdys. Miss K. McCurdy wore black lace and old gold Liberty silk ; Miss M. McCurdy, bright maroon, trimmed with white silk and braid. As for belle, I would say it was between Mias M. McCurdy and Miss Adlam. The foilowing are some of the gentlemen who were present :— Moore (2), Lindsay (2), H. Brownlee, J. Hastings, Murphy, Buckland, Boyle, H. Potter, C. Me Williams, E. McNeil, J Dare, J. McGregor, McC jnnell, Quinn, Scanlan, R. Stevart. H. Stevenson, W. .Robinson, Brown (2), Christie (2), and F.
