An Explanation Needed.

I have received the folio-wing letter from a correspondent, who signs himself ' A Well Wisher of the Turf.' The letter speaks for itself, and Mr Percival should at once make a written explanation as to his scratch' ing of The Baron in the President's Handicap. There was a great deal of grumbling about the matter, especially after The Baron won and paid the large dividend. I don't think Mr Percival would be guilty of such conduct as scratching a horse and then re-entering him, but there is evidently something crooked, and an explanation is necessary. Unless one is forthcoming, it •will certainly do a lot of harm to the A.TJ.C. secretary, as the public will not, I am Buro, stand any hankypanky tricks or underhand work. Here is the letter . —
