Concert at Auckland Tabernacle.
On Wednesday la&t a concert in aid of the Banner fund was met by a very ready response, for the large school-room of the Tabernacle was simply crammed, by an andienoe who testified their delight by very liberal paudits to the various artistes who entertained them. Pastor Birch opened the concert. Miss A. L. Colegrove played a p;anoforte solo, as did Miss Lester ; a powerful reading 1 was given by a gentleman amateur, entitled Caged:' Mr Cox recited 'Ehodevich Dim ;' Mr Turley, ' The Uncle:' Miss "Walker, aang- 'The Winters' Story ' Miss Davis. ' Will He Come ;' a duet by Misses Davies, ' The Convent Bells ' ; Mr W. Martin, ' Best of All,' with flute obligato ; Mr H. Bradney, Queen of the Earth ' ; Mr R. Abel, ' Better Land ' ; Mr J. Johnston, ' The Village Blacksmith ' ; a quartette, ' The Woods,' was eung by Misses Colegrave, Messrs. Colegrave and Martin, followed by an instrumental trio played by Mrs Innes, Messrs. Innes and Cook. Light refreshment were handed around during the interval, and the concert was a great success, musically and financially.
