An Extinguisher.
Alpj^gßse^Earr relates that at Christmas a mail called on him for a Christmas-box. " Who are you ?" was the natural enquiry. "Please, sir, I light ths lamp in front of your; house." " Ah, well ! Here are a couple of shillings for you." A quarter-of-an-hour later another lamp-lighter called. "Oh, my good fallow," said Karr, "I have already given the lamp-lighter his Christmas* box." " Yes, sir," returned the man ; " but you gayS it to the man that lights it." 11 And what do you do " " I put it out."
