Hannafords in Luck
The Hannaford star is in the ascendant. The veteran T. B. H., of Auckland, has bad his beacon invention recommended to the favourable consideration of the Government, and we find the following in a Melbourne paper : — Mr Hannaford, who for a number of years has been engaged as teller in the Echuca branchspf the Bank of New South ' Wales, has been promoted, to the managership of the Jerilderie branch. y^Si liet us hope that the Hannafords will proyej worthy of the trust reposed in them and be., " burning and shining lights " to the colonies, in the figurative sense. If the Government of New Zealand only give the lighthouse invention a trial, the colonies may be shortly illuminated m the yteral sense by the genius of Hannaford.
-Mr Buckley : " Going to leave, Jame3? Why, what is your grievance ?" James : "Hi can't put . hup wit h missus hany longer, sir, Mr Buckley: " But just think, James, how long »' I've put up with her. James: " Yes, sir-^auUfc, truersir. But, beggin' yer pardon, sir, hits: rn^ ;; fcopinion, sir; as how you ain't eikafckly a tree,, .; ! hagent, sir." '
