By The Card.
A yonngr man wandered down the street, With a look of care upon his face ; And his words with sighs were quite replete, As he rushed along- at a reckless pace. lie clutched his watch with a nervous hand, ' A pood watch you, without any doubt,' He said, as he gazed with a look so bland ; ' But you must go in, for I am out.
' I have been on a soak, and it's your soak now ; I have been on a time, and ' time ' is called. I bawled all nigbfc with the fellows— ' wow !' And no r .v with my ' uncle ' you'll be ' balled.' ' I went on ' tick ' so long 1 last m'grht, That now to my ' tick ' I say 'so long !' I was quite too quite, and now requite My rite of the night with a rite that's wrong.*
Axi(\ he wandered on adovvn the street, With his cherished time-piece in his clutch, And said, ' I am going my ' urele ' to meet, Because I met my ' ante ' too much.
