A Christmas Party.
TWO ' LEADING AMATEURS ' PERFpRM 'Jessie's Dream.' Oh, maiden old, whene'er you sing Please hide your face ! ' JPor on a monkey it would bring ' A great disgrace. The tray you roll your head about And ope your mouth Would make a pig turn up its snout, 'Tis so uncouth ! The. cats, who on the 1 garden wall j Perambulate, Can never raise up such a squall, For kinder Fate Has in their souls implanted deep A sort of air — A music wild that murders sleep • And makes one swear ; But when you sing, 'tis loicey-wercy — Your mew-sick sweet Would make us mince you without mercy For cats to eat. ' Killaknet.' When. Mr Tim Doolan appeared on the stage, His looks aad demeanour so pleasant and sage Quito won the hearts of the party, And he tickled them all with his blarney ; And tkea, by request Of a very drunk guest, He sang to them'Killarney.' His lily-white hand he placed over his heart When he oame to the most sintymintylist part And ,the plaudits were plisint and hearty. But alas I poor Tim forgot that night Which side was his left and which his right !
