The Auckland Tobacco Company have published a notice, signed by the Manager, stating that Mr August Vollbracht, formerly Manager of the New Zealand Tobacco Growing and Manufacturing Company, has no connection with their Company. This at present is only intended to injure, as it is well known that I resigned connection with the Company on the Bth November last. I am well known all over New Zealand as the father of the tobacco manufacturing industry, and have a manufacturing lisense issued before the Auckland , Company's present manager knew anything about the business. Why do the farmers appeal to me ? Eightyfour farmers have applied to me for help, so that the tobacco crop should not be a failure. I will help them even if I do not get the tobacco. How is it that all the working men of the Auckland Tobacco Company, have been stopped this morning 1 Is that a proper management 1 Ido not need to be afraid about the farmers. They know me too well, and the public of New Zealand at large. It would be better to have fair play. Competitoin is the health of business.
