THE HI SING GENERATION.
The children in Dallas, Texas, are more advanced than in any other portion of the State. Lucy, aged eleven, reading a newspaper/ c Its dreadful ?' Father : ' What's dreadful ?' Lucy : ' Another faithless wife run off with, a commercial, and the injured husband has brought suit for divorce. If this sort of thing dosen't stop soon there will not be any parents left in Dallas.'
' Oivery toiin Oi see wan o 1 thiin littlediyiis,' said an Irishman, as he killed a mosquito between the paims of his hands,. 'it reminds me ay a collector ; they're always shovin' their bills at yer. Clara (who owns to twenty) — 'Think of the artfulness of that minx Mary Oldmaiden ! Would you believe it, she told Mr Suitor that . I was tweuty-five years old ! She knew well enough she wasn't coming within five years of the truth.' Dearest , Friend— ' Why Clara,, you don't mean to say she should have told . him you were thirty ?'
