Nothing sensational in the betting line to report this week. Silvermine has been scratched for the Melbourne Cup. Prince Imperial and Cairo have been wellsupporbed for the Hawkesbmy Handicap. Through some unforseen cause we have not received our Southern and Australian files this week. The course at Forbury is said to be in first class condition. All the horses located there t are doing good work. Mr Douse has been appointed sole handicapper to the Dunedin Jockey Club, and is * said to be the right man in the right place. 'La Don ' announces by advertisement in another column that he has opened a con- - sultation on the Melbourne Cup. For particulars see advertisement. According to advices from the South, it is likely that both July and Trenton will depart for Australia at an early date for the purpose of fulfilling engagements there. The following additional scratching^ are announced for the Melbourne Cup :— Archie, Bureldah, First Demon, Garfield, Hazard, Gasconade, Nepicallina, and Leap Year. The Auckland Racing Club held its annual meeting on Monday last, when about twenty members were present. Mr Thomas Morrin occupied the chair. According to the balance-sheet the total receipts were £16,871 10s Gd, made up as follows :— Cash in hand, £56 15s 8d; debtors, £65 7s; subscription, £755 ; Spring meeting, £953 2s Sd; summer meeting, ££6127 Us 9d; autumn meeting, £2465 3s 9d ; winter meeting, £660 13s 6cl ; other items, including £5000 New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, making up the gross amount. The expenditure svas: Paid creditors, £201 13s 9d; overdraft, £1410 13s 4d; spring meeting £721 4s lQd; summer meeting, £4359 13s; autumn meeting, £1848 10s ; winter meeting, £839 ss, and other items of expenditure amounted in the agaregate to, including interest, etc., and the following items : South British Insurance Company, £4816 4s; Auckland Savings Bank, £40 14s; dishonoured cheque, £2 11s6d; cash in hand, 30th June, 1885, £57 3s 7d ; cash in bank, 30th June, 1885, £314 los sd: made the total, £16,811 10s 6d. The profit and loss account showed with 2150 12s 8d balance to capital account a total of £3789 ss, and the credit side, including members' fees and receipts from race meetings, amounted to £3787 5s 2d. The capital account showed £17,866 18s 9d, the balance being £14,959 7s 3d.
