While all the discussion is going on in Parliament over the modes by which New Zealand should be regulated, Eaton, of the Co-operative Stores, next old Criterion Hotel, Hobson-street, Auckland, has been paying particular attention to the important question of solving how the poor can live well and yet cheaply. The result is that he has discovered the philosopher's stone, and is therefere enabled to supply the people in and out of Auckland with lines of goods ranging from 25 to 50 per cent lower than can be obtained at those houses where the retailers are inexperienced in the art of buying cheaply, and where, as a natural result, the people have to pay prices for their cheese, butter, bacon, tea, sugar, and the thousand and one necessaries of daily life, The stores are at present laJgely stocked with extra cheap and good lines, which have been purchased on the most advantageous terms. The man who only gets low wages need not be without a good meal for himself and family if he ouly goes to Eaton's for his supplies.
