A COOL EXCUSE.
If the Auckland butchers continue to raise the price of meat they will raise it out of the reach of the poorer classes altogether ere long. The frozen-ruutton-for-exporfc excuse for sticking another penny per pound on mutton is, all things considered, a little too cool. How much frozen meat does Auckland export ? If the retailers are to be allowed to have things all their own way, a leg of mutton will soon be as expensive a luxury in Auckland as it is in London, and then our poor people will be compelled to turn vegetarians in self-defence.
