DIEUT. LUCAS.

LIEUT. LUCAS, of whom the above is an engraving 1 , was born at Manchester, of English parents, in the year 1852, and came to New Zealand in the ship Ironsides in 1864. He has been a member of the Thames Volunteers for a period of. ten years, and was an officer in the old Thames Scottish and Lieutenant in the Engineers. He is at present a Lieutenant of the Thames Rifle Rangers, and one ot the best shots ever in the district. At the recent Association Competition at Wellington he won the Champion Eiflo Belt.
