A very successful concert, in aid of the building funds of the Catholic Church, was held in the Public Hall, Kihikihi, on the evening of the 17th inst. The hall was crowded to the door, all the leading residents of Kihikihi being present, and all sections of the district being well represented. Mrs Doyle sang " The Dear Little Shamrock, which was well received and loudly encored. This was followed by Mr Staunton, who sang " Killarney " with great feeling ; there was an enthusiastic encore. This gentleman possesses a rich mellow voice. In the second part of the programme he sang " Come Back to Erin " and the " Rabies on the Block" with excellent effect and finish, and was vociferously applauded. Miss Farrell accompanied on the piano. Miss Eeay sang "The Flower Girl " very successfull jr. Mrs G-resham sang " I Love My Love," which was well received. Miss Cullen sang " Jessie's Dream " in the first part, and "Erin on the Rhine" in the second with great taste and feeling, and in each case had to submit to an encore. Mr Hunter sang " "We Mean to go Hunting Today^" which appeared to hit the taste of tlie audience, for it was received with rounds of applause. A full band was in attendance under the leadership of Mr Sibley. After the performance the hall was cleared for dancing, which was kept up with great spirit until an early hour in the morning. The following are the most remarkable of the ladies' dresses :— Mrs Buckworth, black costume, with beaded trimmings ; Mrs Berry, brown cashmere; Mrs White, cream dres?, trimmed with cardinal lace ; Miss Donovan, drab cashmere, with trimmings to match ; Mrs Gresham, black silk, with cardinals

trimmings and gold jewellery; Miss Gr. Farrell, croam and blue ; Miss M. Farrell, white dress, cardinal sash ; Mrs Doyle, navy blue dress, trimmed witli blue satin ; Miss Cullon, a pretty costume of dark green. velvet; Miss Reay, white dress, cardinal trimmings ; Miss Sullivan, white lustre, trimmed with pink llama ; Mrs Tanner,, brown cashmere, trimmed with ribbon to match ; Miss Bartlett, a pret by dark check, costume.
