The other eve, co people tell, Down Queen-street passed a well-known swell, And by his side one dressed in blue, With trim white bat and feathers too. Adonis stands some five feet ten, And is most handsome dressed of men ; While Venus' height is five feet two, Rright orbs, of course, superbly blue. These eager eyes admired the beard — Ry many captive led, 'tis feared — And as his bright eyes on her fell, She loved, not wisely, but too well, So many thought, with no surprise, As lover's looks beamed from his eves. # # * # On many thus he fondly gazes, Who, fooled, will wish him soon in blazes.
