NAPIER.
Several pretty girls assembled at the Spit to witness the departure of the elderly, wealthy, widower of the Coote-road. There was much weeping and gnashing of teeth. — Mr W. looked quite bewitching that Sunday evening 'as he
stalked up the centre o£ Sfc. John's Clmrch with that uncertain coloured scarf wound tightly round his neck. Was it the work of some fair enslaver. — Has Clara captivated Susie's young man ? — Why does bashful Davie go about with his hands in his pockets ? Is it to make them white or to keep off chilblains ? — The Hero of the Shark is looking like his old self again, so wo may expect a few more stretchers. — A thing of beauty is a joy for ever and. so is Gr. on his gallant steed.
