THE HARBOUR BOARD IS GROANING*

Three woes are afllicting the Harbour Board — The Harbour Board of fair Auckland Town : And first and worst, they are ever bored By Frost, demanding his thirty poun' ! For sailors must drown, and inventors weep, Though gangways be shaky, and harbours deep, And the Harbour Board is groaning. Three boatmen "were on the pilot staff . Of the Harbour Board of fair Auckland Town s And Burgess and Sainty can't stand the chaff Of Grreig, so the Board has put him down j The apprentice boys must dutiful keep, Though of fc at a rope's end forced to weep, While the Harbour Board is groaning. The Board is making a big new dock To bring the big ships to Auckland Town $ But McKenzie is wiser than other folk, And the Board has a struggle to keep him down. But Chairman and Co. to their plans will keep, Though ships be shallow and docks be deep ; Then good-bye to the Board and its groaning.
