He promised to knight the Reception Committee, He promised to stay live full days in our city ; And said he'd take either a dance or a ditty In proof of our loyalty rare. Oh, dear, &c. But the Squadron's not coming, and more is the pity; It has knocked out of shape the Reception Committee, Who swear they'll have something received in our city— If only a Maori so feare ! Oh, dear, &c.
