Entrance fee to be forwarded with nomination and colours, age and pedigree of horse, addressed to the Secretary, Post-office, Cambridge, or Mr William Percival, Auckland, not later than Thursday, the Bth September, 1881. - Weights will appear in Auckland and Waikato paper 3, Wednesday, 14th September, 1881, with the exception of Stewards' Handicap, which will be declared immediately after Spring Cup is run for. Acceptance money payable to the Secretary, or Mr Percival, by Saturday, the 17th September, 1881, at 8 p.m. , Acceptance for Stewards' Handicap will be received up to half-an-hour before the race. Horses walking over will receive 50 per cent, of the stakes. No entry will be received except upon the condition that all claims, disputes, and objections arising shall be decided by the Stewards or whom they may appoint, and their decision shall be final. All protests must be accompanied with a deposit of 3 soys., which will be forfeited to the funds should the Stewards consider the protest frivolons or vexatious. The rules of the Auckland Racing Club will be strictly adhered to. Ten per cent, from prizes in each event will be deducted for second horse. WALTER SCOTT, Hon. Secretary. The Cambridge Coursing Club have decided to hold an All-aged Dog Sweepstakes the day after the Escea, Friday, 23rd September, 1881. 48 PROSPECTUS OF THE WAIHI GOLD MINING COMPANY (LIMITED). WAIHI, UPPER THAMES. Capital : £30,000, in 30,000 Shares of £1 Each. The Shareholders having formed a Company, with a. Capital of £30,000, in 30,000 Shares of £1 Each, to work the Mine, which comprises claims known as Jones', Little Lizzie, and Waitete, containing about sixty men's ground, now offer to the Public 6000 Shares at a premium of 10s each, the proceeds of sale of Shares to purchase and erect a 20-head stamper battery at the Mine. The Shares are offered on the following terms, viz.» 5s on application, 2s 6d per Share on Ist October, 1881. The Directors have allotted 19,000 Shares to the Original Shareholders, and reserve 5000 Shares for purchase of adjoining claim or claims ; the balance of 6000 are offered as above. The Company's ground adjoins the Dulcibel and Martha claims at Waihi, in which the reef- (37 feet through) has been proved to be gold-bearing at different points through the ground. The gold from this district has been sold for £3 14s 6d per ounce. As soon as the mine is opened up and the battery erected, it is confidently expected the Company will work and crush the quartz without calls upon the Shareholders. The quartz can be won and sent to the battery for 3s 6d per ton, and crushed for about the same amount. The Company have secured the water right, and, in a few months, it is expected the returns from the mine will prove highly remunerative.
