PRINCE ALBERT VICTOR TO AUCKLAND.
Air— ln the Gloaming. In the Quarantine, oh, Auckland ! On the far and lovely isle, Will you place the Royal Squadron, Dooming us to limbo vile ? Where the winds are sobbing loudly, Where the sights are full 01 woe ! Uncle Alf . you greeted proudly In the days of long agu. Then, no Quarantine, oh, Auckland, For my ship or for my crew, Take us as we are and hail us, I would fain think well of you, For my heart is filled with longing All your thermal springs to see. Hang those balls, that speechifying, Bad for you and bad for me. Then when I have passed in silence From your islands young and fair I shall hold s\yeet reminiscence Of those solfatara's rare. I'm a boy yet, do remember, Longing to be wild and free, So c'en if I greet you never, Don't think bitterly of me.
