\V— The Papakura coiirse is a wretched one, and many arc of opinion that it would be much better if the meeting were squashed and a small one held at Ellerslie on the Queen's Birthday.
— There was some little discussion at Papakura about Godwin riding Grand Duchess in the Ladies' Purse. Many maintained that he bad ridden professionally at certain specified meetings, and that he was not therefore a " gentleman rider."
— A wonderful thing occurred at Papakura on Tuesday. For the first time in his life John Smith admitted that his jockey had ridden properly. Kelly is indeed an A 1 horseman, and brought the mare along splendidly in the race with Ratcatcher. She was, however, quite out of condition.
— There was some grumbling at Papakura about the distance for the principal handicap being 1 changed from 2 miles to If.
