We don't envy the new superintendent of the Howe-street Home. He and his wife, though commencing work under more favourable circumstances than the unfortunate Harveys, have a hard task before them and will not improbably come to grief like their predecessors. Experience amply proves that to retain this billet, a superintendent must be a fawning cringing creature Avho will allow himself to be trampled on by the Ladies ( ! !) Committee, and submit to dictation and interference of the most galling description. The new superintendent is a very independent customer and we prophesy that he'll either rout the ladies utterly, or else " throw up the sponge " like Dr. Harvey.
