With the object of providing permanent memorials of the centennial of the Dominion 10 new meeting houses are contemplated by the Arawa tribe, two of which include the rebuilding of the historic Tamatekapua at Ohinemutu and Wahiao at Whakarewarewa. Application for financial assistance toward these two projects have already been made to the New Zealand Centennial Council, while the assistance of the Government with the labour costs of the other 14 buildings is also being sought.
