PLANTATION BURNED. FIRE FROM RAILWAY. KING COUNTRY CASE. IBy Telegraph. —Press AssociatiouJ TE KUITI, Nov. 17. Confirmation of the settlement with the Railway Department regarding the destruction of the water reserve plantation by fire was received at a meeting of the Te Kuiti Borough Council. The reserve was burned as a result of flames spreading from burning operations along the side of the railway line. The settlement provided that the Department should pay the council £2OO for damages, £lB for repairs to fencing, and should undertake to cleai up the area and plant it. As the original offer of the Department had been '£l2o, the council to undertake the cost of re-establishing the plantation, the settlement wan deemed satisfactory.
