BAKERY DISPUTE.

SPECIAL TRIBUNAL HEARING. PROCEEDINGS OPENED TO-DAY. DISCHARGE OF A DRIVER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association] AUCKLAND, May 26. The hearing of the dispute in the Auckland bakery industry arising from Iho dismissal of a driver by G. li. Mathioson commenced this morning before a special tribunal appointed by the Minister. The secretary of the Diipcrs’ Union, Mr. L. G. Matthews, alleged the driver who had been discharged had been victimised, as he had been one of those responsible for calling a meeting several months ago to discuss tho conditions of work. The employers’ representative, Mr. W. E. Anderson, said tho dismissal was due to inefficiency and lie allegod that the man concerned was running a business in his employer’s time. Mr. Anderson said that Mathicson had been in business for 38 years, and during that period could recall no serious representations being made to him by the Labour Department.
