CHEAP MAGAZINES.
SPOIL YOUNG PEOPLE. TASTE IN LITERATURE. LIBRARY ASSN. CONFERENCE. [By Telegraph.—Press Association] NELSON, Feb. 17. Strong concern at the importation of a degrading type of cheap magazine, which it is stated is being read, especially by younger people, and spoiling their tastes for good literature, was expressed by the conference of the New Zealand Library Association in a suggestion to ask for a restriction on their importation. ' It was opposed, however, on the grounds that the censorship might interfere with good literature. A subcommittee was set up to consider and report back to the conference on a remit submitted by Miss E. A. Chaplin.
