VIOLENT COLLISION.

CROSSING FATALITY. YOUNG MAN KILLED. CAE CARRIED ALONG LIiNE. [By Telegraph.—Press Association] AUCKLAND, Dec. 28. Within 10yds of his home, Mr. C. T. Elwin, of Jersey Avenue, Mt. Albert, was killed about 12.45 this afternoon, when the fi've-seater sedan car he was driving came into violent collision with the north-bound train at Woodward Road railway crossing. The car was struck in the vicinity of the driver's seat and was carried along the line and thrown about 75ft. from the roadway. The car was wrecked. Mr. Elwin, who was a young man, was a blacksmith at the Otahuhu railway workshops.
