CHRJSTCHURCH SCHEME. TO HELP PENSIONERS. LETTIiNG AT 10/- WEEKLY. [By Telegraph.—Press Association] CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 23. The provision by the Christehureh City Council of 50 cottages for old-age pensioners at a capital cost that would not involve a rental in excess of Ift/' a week was urged by Mr. J. S. Barnett, in a resolution which produced a long debate at the meeting of the council. The motion that the council should undertake a housing scheme was rejected in favour" of an amendment that the finance committee of tne council should continue its present investigations, which have for their object the provision of houses for old-age pensioners and other indigent people in the eify.
