WHAT THE PLANS REVEAL.

PLEASING AND MODERN DESIGN

The new Convent for the Sisters of St. Joseph, at Thames, tenders for the construction of which have been called, will be, according to the plans, a splendid addition to the Catholic Church buildings and an asset to the town.

Provision is made for a two-storeyed structure in brick and reinforced concrete to take tne place of the present building and from the outside it will be imposing. The chapel and six other rooms will occupy tho ground floor, which will have a total frontage to Willoughby Street of 60ft The depth on tho east side will be 51ft Sin, and on the west, side 69ft llin. On the west side of the building will be the chapel, with dimensions of 24ft by 14ft. At the rear of the chapel will be the sacristy, 12t 2in by 7ft. A parlour, 10ft 6in by 12ft, community room, 12ft by 14ft 61n, and tho refectory, lift by 13ft, will front a verandah 7ft lllin by 31ft Gin to Willoughby Street. The west wing at the rear of the refectory will be occupied by the kitchen, lift by lift liin, and two music rooms, both 12ft by lift.

Upstairs will be the cubicles or bedrooms, with dimensions 12ft by Bft, 12ft by 13ft Gin, ail'd lift by 7ft 7in. Provision is also made for an infirmary of 17ft Gin by 9ft, and bathrooms, etc. A balcony will front Willoughby street, measuring 6ft 9in by 21ft 9iri.

The total width of the upstairs portion will be 45ft Gin and the depth 25ft B}in. The roofing will be of tiles. The proposed building has necessarily been planned so as to allow for the building of a new church in the future, but in design and appearance it will incorporate all that is modern.
